Just in time for the holidays! Join National Children’s Theatre (NCT) in this fun musical romp as they end the year with the premiere of Mr. Popper’s Penguins, based on the Newbery Honor book, adapted by Richard and Florence Atwater and on stage from Tuesday 08 November 2016. This playful, enchanting, comedy will send everyone out with a happy smile and tapping their feet.
This production has been made possible by part of a grant of R2m from the National Lotteries commission (NLC).
In the small town of Stillwater, Mr. and Mrs. Popper are pleasant, practical, predictable people. But when a surprise package for the Poppers produces a penguin, chaos waddles into their lives! Soon, the Poppers home and hearts are filled with not one, not two, but a whole bunch of boisterous black and white birds. But the birds have to eat – and food costs money – that the Poppers don’t have! Eventually Mr Popper solves the problem by teaching the penguins to dance and taking on tour around the country.
