NEILL SOLOMON AT THE ORBIT

Neill Solomon’s Uptown Rhythm Collective will be playing at The Orbit. Neill is a multiple award winning film and television soundtrack composer, songwriter and musician.

He is well known for his pioneering work during the 1980’s in the rock and world music fields with groups such as The Uptown Rhythm Dogs and The Passengers. Albums such as The Occupant, Rule of the Swallow and The Gathering of the Beasts produced a number of chart singles. In 1985 Neill joined the Loft Theatre Company and performed in numerous plays for many of which he wrote the musical score. This lead to him acting in films such as The Angel, the Bicycle and the Chinaman’s Finger, for which he won an award for the music score. Neill has since scored many internationally recognized films and theatre productions such as the acclaimed Jock of the Bushveld, Gavin Hood’s – A Reasonable Man and the award winning production Nothing But The Truth by John Kani.

A renowned composer for a large number of television series and commercial’s most notably for A Place Called Home for which he won a 2010 Safta Award for best composition in Television.Other television and commercials include 90 Plein St, as well as Eskom, BMW and Guinness to name a few.
