South Africa’s newest classical composer and artist, Caroline Leisegang celebrates Øyeblikk – A Series of Moments at Circa on Jellicoe in Rosebank on the 11h February at 7.30pm.
This first of its kind, the installation is an audio-visual experience exploring the relationship between dance, sketch art and music, using visual mapping and animation of sketches done by Jean-Michel Wickli, as well as visuals by Darling and dance by Alice Kok – all set to the haunting beauty of her debut album Øyeblikk – A Series of Moments.
Breaking new ground in South Africa with the concept, Caroline hopes to create a new platform for art and music to merge more often in live showcases.
The series will be performed by pianist, Jude Van der Wat with a special performance by Caroline herself.
Having the full series premiered at Circa has been a dream since Caroline began the composition process. The stunning art gallery is the perfect backdrop for this visionary performance. Already having been voted the Best Classical Album on iTunes last year, Øyeblikk – A Series of Moments was immediately received with outstanding praise by media and music lovers alike. This performance aims to showcase more of this talented young composers vision and show her fans another side of her artistic nature.
