WAM WALKABOUT with LES COHEN

WAM WALKABOUT with LES COHEN

Join WAM curator Les Cohen and artists for a media walkabout of the South African artworks that are set to go on auction at WAM.

The works, generously donated by about 25 contemporary artists and collectors, will be available on the online auction, giving art lovers a jump on the physical auction, which takes place at the end of May 2015.

All proceeds from the auction go towards the museum’s endowment, which supports the sustainability and growth of the institution. Today, Wits Art Museum has collections of nearly 11 000 artworks that have been shared with art lovers in the City of Johannesburg for three years.

The endowment was set up in 2013 with an initial target of R25 million and in less than two years an extraordinary R18 million has been raised and invested.

The artworks will be exhibited at the museum between 14 May and 24 May.

The walkabout will take place on Thursday 14 May 2015 at 10am for 10:30am

VENUE: Wits Art Museum, Jorrisen Street, Braamfontein
